Captain Kerry Charles stepped in with a further two 6’s to end Penton innings on 297 for 4 and Rouse finished on 74 not out.Crown Taverners opener Andrew Rouse stuck at the wicket, but early wickets from Martin Patrick gave Penton hope of a win. Rouse was eventually caught on 46 by young Morgan Vanandal off Charles’s bowling with the score on 77 for 3 off 18 overs. Paul Emerson was the only other batsman in double figures, with a fine total of 54 runs, but the Taverners were all out for 135 to leave Penton with the best possible start to the league with maximum points.
