Penton I 81 – 7
Over Wallop I 80 – all out
Morgan vandandal 5-33
Penton won by 3 wickets
Penton won their second game of the season, but Wallop made sure that they worked for every run.
Wallop opened the batting and three quick wickets saw the score at 7 for 3 off three overs, but Roy Cavell (34) and Joel Pinchbeck (20) pushed the total upwards before Morgan Vanandal bowled both of them out. The remaining batsmen were not able to greatly increase the total, mainly due to Martin Patrick’s bowling and 5 wickets taken by Vanandal, and finished their innings on 80 all out.
With a low total to chase Wallop’s opening bowler Roy Cavell kept Penton’s total down with 4 runs off his initial 7 overs and getting Penton’s two openers out. Dan Staff (19) raised Penton’s score, but five more wickets fell and Penton were 8 runs short with only three wickets remaining. Morgan Vanandal (12) managed to steady himself at the wicket and eventually pushed Penton onto 81 to win the game.
