Penton had a comparatively easy win against Sherfield-on-Loddon, although not many wickets fell during the game. Penton opened the batting, but Richard Jenson’s wicket fell quickly with the total on 8. John Hunter stayed at the crease for the innings and ended on 71 not out. Bevon Joseph hit a quick 57 before Ben Mulleady bowled him out, and Penton finished on 219 for 4. Best bowling figures were by Chris Swift who bowled his 12 overs for 13 runs and took one wicket.

Sherfield’s batsmen slowly maintained their presence at the wicket, but runs were hard to come off the bowling of Barry Kavanagh and Martin Patrick. At the halfway stage Sherfield were 49 for 2, with openers Grant Smith (12) and Norman House (20) bowled by Partick and Vanandal. John Gibson (14) and Dan Stewart (0) were out by the 23rd over, but Steve Dummer (60*) and Chris Swift (45*) stubbornly kept at the wicket and kept the score moving along without troubling the fielders too much. Sherfield ended their innings on 170 for 4, and Penton are climbing back up the league table.
